BMI Data Reporting
-
Every school year, the New York State Department of Health selects school districts to participate in the BMI (Body Mass Index) Data Reporting. The Ken-Ton school district has been selected to participate for the 2022-2023 school year.
This data collection is conducted by school nurses and is based on BMI data from the previous school year from the New York State mandated physicals for grades pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. Students are NOT identified in this data collection. It is only a collection of the BMI percentiles.
New York State requires that parents or persons in a parental relationship be given the right to exclude their child’s weight status information from the survey. This may be done via the opt-out form.
