Lions SEE Vision ScreeningLions SEE, a free community service vision screening program for children in pre-K, K, Grade 1 and Grade 2, will be providing this service in the Ken-Ton School District. Lion See has provided over 14,000 screenings in Erie County schools, including multiple local districts. It does not replace the New York State-mandated vision screening for acuity that is done by the school nurses; it is intended to assist with the early identification of potential vision problems and identify those students needing referral for further evaluation. It is very quick, easy, and non-intrusive. It can be done in the classroom, requiring only that lights are turned down to facilitate the equipment.Referral letters are sent to parents by the school nurse, and the follow-up is done by the school nurse. Vision screening at school is mandated by New York State for these grade levels.
