Kenmore East graduate Rachel Hamilton poses with Kenmore East music teacher Phil Aguglia

Congratulations are in order for Kenmore East High School graduate Rachel Hamilton, Class of 2019, who recently received a huge accomplishment at the Rochester Institute of Technology!

Rachel, who’s currently studying biomedical engineering with a minor in chemistry, was honored with the Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar Award. The award celebrates the top 1% of undergraduate students who achieve academic excellence, while also giving back to the community. Rachel was a flutist in high school and was section leader of the wind ensemble for three years, featured soloist, band council executive, and a scholar.

An award ceremony was held on March 21st where Rachel received a special bronze medallion. She was also joined by Kenmore East High School music teacher Phil Aguglia, who was recognized for his dedication to music education and for making a profound impact on Rachel’s educational journey.

“Rachel is embarking on a career as a medical technology researcher and someday, there may be a flutist playing with a prosthetic hand created by Rachel,” Aguglia said. “Bravo young lady!”
