Music Courses
Elementary School Music
Grade K-2:
- General music class two times each week
- Students will participate in the following activities: Sing, play classroom instruments, dance, improvise and compose music
Grade 3:
- General music class two times each week
- Students will participate in the following activities: Play the recorder, sing, play classroom instruments, dance, improvise and compose music
Grade 4:
- One General music class and one Chorus rehearsal each week
- Students will participate in the following activities: Sing, play classroom instruments, dance, improvise and compose music
- Students may choose to play a band or string instrument. The students will work with the instrumental teacher to choose one of the following instruments:
- Orchestra: Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass
- Band: Oboe, Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone and Percussion
Middle School Music
Grade 5:
- 5 weeks of general music - Students will participate in the following activities: Sing, play classroom instruments, improvise and compose music
- Optional: one or two of the music electives (for example Orchestra and Chorus or band and chorus)
- Music Electives:
- 5th grade Chorus – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 5th grade Band – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 5th grade Orchestra – rehearsals during the school day every other day
Grade 6:
- 5 weeks of general music - Students will participate in the following activities: Sing, play classroom instruments, improvise and compose music
- Optional: one or two of the music electives (for example Orchestra and Chorus or band and chorus)

- 6th grade Chorus – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 6th grade Band – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 6th grade Orchestra – rehearsals during the school day every other day
Grade 7:
- 20 weeks of general music OR one or two of the music electives (for example: band and chorus or orchestra and chorus)
- Students will participate in the following activities: Sing, play classroom instruments, improvise and compose music
- Music Electives:
- 7th grade Chorus – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 7th grade Band – rehearsals during the school day every other day
- 7th grade Orchestra – rehearsals during the school day every other day
The following after-school extracurricular music ensembles are available for all middle school students:
- Jazz Band
- Select Chorus
- Musicals
High School Music
Grade 8:
- Music Electives:
- Concert Choir – rehearsals during the school every day
- Concert Band – rehearsals during the school very day
- Concert Orchestra – rehearsals during the school every day
Grade 9-12:
Music Electives:
- Chorus - Chamber Singers, Treble Choir, Mixed Chorus
- Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble
- Symphonic Orchestra
