May 16, 2023 Budget Vote & Board of Education Election

VOTING RESULTS:
The annual Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District Budget Vote and Board of Education Election took place on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Residents of the school district had the opportunity to vote on three propositions: the proposed 2023-24 school district budget, the annual bus purchase, and a proposal to rename the Kenmore West Natatorium. They also voted on candidates for two seats on the Board of Education.
Voting results were as follows:
- Proposition 1, the proposed 2023-24 school year budget, was approved by voters (yes votes: 1147 no votes: 336).
- Proposition 2, the annual bus purchase, was approved by voters (yes votes: 1173; no votes: 339).
- Proposition 3, the proposal to rename the Kenmore West Natatorium, was approved by voters (yes votes: 1232; no votes: 268).
- There are two terms on the Board of Education that will begin July 1, 2023 and end June 30, 2026. The seats will go to the two candidates who received the highest number of votes. The candidates who received the highest number of votes were Karen Whitelaw, who received 1289 votes, and Lee Ann Vogt, who received 1285 votes. They ran unopposed.
The proposed 2023-24 Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District budget will be presented to voters at the 2023 Budget Vote & Board of Education Election, which takes place Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Hoover Middle School (use the Sheridan Drive entrance). Voting Information

- Voters must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, and a resident of the district for 30 days prior to the vote.
- Those who are not registered to vote will need to complete an affidavit confirming that they are a qualified voter.
- Photo identification and proof of citizenship, age, and residency are required for those who are not registered.
Absentee Ballot Information:
- Contact the District Clerk at (716) 874-8400 ext. 20342 for an absentee ballot application.
- Those on the permanent absentee ballot list do not need to apply for an absentee ballot.
- Applications must be received no later than seven days prior to May 16, 2023.
- Absentee ballots must arrive no later than 5 p.m. the day of the vote on May 16, 2023.
