    Board of Education President

     

    Matthew Chimera is in his sixth year on the Board of Education and his fifth year as President. He attended NCCC and Buffalo State College. Before joining the Board, Mr. Chimera retired after a 38-year career as a teacher in the Ken-Ton School District. He taught at the elementary, middle, and high school level; served as a technology integrator and a mentor to new teachers; and coached football, wrestling, and softball. Over the course of his 25 years as Kenmore West softball coach, Mr. Chimera led the team to 12 NFL titles, four Section VI championships, three Far West Regional titles, and one NYS championship. Mr. Chimera was one of the founders of the district's Big Picture Program, an innovative non-traditional high school program, and his final seven years in teaching were with the Big Picture Program. Mr. Chimera and his wife Lisa were both graduates of the Ken-Ton School District and they have two children: Alessondra, who graduated from Kenmore West in 2017, and Matthew, who graduated from Kenmore West in 2020.
