The history of the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District dates back to 1892 with the opening of the Kenmore Union School, also known as School No. 6. The district was designated as Union Free School District No. 1 after the opening of Kenmore High School in 1911. Frank Densberger, who had previously served as Principal of Kenmore High School, became the district's first Superintendent of Schools in 1915.
