Hoover Elementary Students Donate 461 Pounds of Candy for Operation Gratitude

Through their annual Operation Gratitude drive, Hoover Elementary School collected 461 pounds of candy to donate to those serving in the Armed Forces. That's the equivalent of approximately 12,000 fun-size candy bars!

As part of Operation Gratitude, students donated candy in the days following Halloween. The candy was then weighed and given to Winning Smiles Pediatric Dentistry which donates it to American troops. It was Hoover Elementary's sixth year participating and the school is routinely among the top donating organizations in Western New York.

Winning Smiles Pediatric Dentistry matches every pound of candy with $1, which means $461 will also be donated to the Hoover Elementary HSA.

Franklin Elementary School students also donated Halloween candy for members of the Armed Forces, donating a total of  246 pounds for the effort.
