Edison Elementary Wins Andy Parker October Weather Machine Contest

Weather Machine

The week before Election Day, students at Edison Elementary School were shown the power of voting when they learned that the school had won the Andy Parker/WKBW Channel 7 October Weather Machine Contest!

The entire school community worked hard to keep Edison Elementary at the top of the polling during a month of voting that was carried out each day after announcement of that day’s “weather word.” The Edison Elementary PTA was especially actively throughout. At the end of the contest, Edison Elementary had nearly twice as many votes as the No. 2 vote-getter.

During a special surprise visit to Edison Elementary School during a school-wide assembly on Oct. 31, WKBW meteorologist Andy Parker announced to an excited student body that the popular weather machine would soon be coming to the school.

Footage of his visit can be found at:

The Weather Machine teaches students about the weather through a fun and exciting auditorium presentation. It can create all different weather conditions such as lightning and tornados with the help of students in the audience.
