Joy Burgio, Hoover Middle School Teacher Aide

Mrs. Joy Burgio has been a dedicated member of the Ken-Ton School District community since her own children attended Hoover Elementary, where she served as a classroom volunteer, a.k.a. “Room Mom.” She was encouraged by the teachers with whom she worked to apply for a job as a teacher aide. She was hired as a sub in 2006 and later as a full-time teacher aide in 2008. She has supported students in both the 15:1 and 12:1 special education programs with remarkable dedication and care. Having begun her career at Hoover Elementary and later shifting over to Hoover Middle due to staffing vacancies, she came to love middle schoolers as much as elementary students, saying, “This is my place now.” Joy’s organization, drive, and passion for learning shine through as she creates an environment where students feel supported and challenged. Her approach is both nurturing and structured – firm, kind, and focused, balancing warmth with high expectations. Her unwavering commitment to our students is truly inspiring, making a lasting impact on their education and personal growth.
