Alaya Hampton, Kenmore Junior/Senior High Student
Alaya is currently a 12th-grade student and a member of the original Crossroads Academy class at Kenmore Junior/Senior High School. When she first started out, it’s important to note that it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. When Alaya transferred over to our school, she came with quite the track record and reputation of finding herself in trouble. At some point, Alaya decided that wasn’t the life she wanted to live anymore and began prioritizing her academics. Slowly but surely, Alaya became the epitome of what our program represents. By the end of her junior year, she had gone from 5.5 credits to 14.5 credits and passed 3 of her Regents Exams, putting her back on track to graduate on time with her cohort, which is incredible to say the least. We couldn’t be prouder of Alaya and her growth over this past school year and look forward to her continued success and watching her walk across the stage with that contagious smile in June.
