Jeffery Kleismit, Hoover Middle School Teacher
Seventh-grade English Teacher Jeffery Kleismit has taught at Franklin Middle, both Kenmore East and West, and said he "really found his niche" at Hoover Middle, where he has been for eight years. He said he "loves working with middle school students"! His peers have commented, "Jeff is a go-getter! He is creative, energetic, and caring." A passionate teacher, Mr. Kleismit helps literature come to life with such activities as a fundraising walk called "The Iron Giraffe Challenge" to accompany the reading of "A Long Walk to Water" to benefit Water for South Sudan. He has been a member of the Secondary English Curriculum Committee for more than a decade, has served on various vertical teams, helped lead our Capstone Project as part of the enrichment program, and has participated in many COII projects on curriculum and selecting diverse texts for our district book lists. His classroom library is 750+ books and he always tries to match students with their perfect books. During hybrid learning last year, he collaborated with his colleagues and students to create "Some Good News" videos which were a bright spot during a challenging time! Our first days of school this year were heavily influenced by Mr. Kleismit's work, as he compiled an amazing video tour of our whole school to share with all students and staff in order that everyone would feel safe, cared for and a part of our school culture. Our staff gave it huge kudos!! Mr. Kleismit shared that he is inspired by his amazing family, including his wife Katie and his son Nate, who is now in seventh grade, too!
