Rebecca Thompson, Franklin Elementary School Teacher
Rebecca Thompson, Franklin Elementary School Teacher
Mrs. Thompson is a valuable member of the Franklin Elementary School community and she is the hardest working library media specialist that we have ever known. She is always visible to students (when in the building) and she is always willing to be part of classroom activities. Mrs. Thompson incorporates classroom learning into her library lessons and is more than willing to try something new. Mrs. Thompson works hard to build relationships with her students and the other staff members in the building and she can tell when students and staff need a “seat on her bench”. She is a trusted and loyal professional and is an extremely hardworking and flexible colleague. She is always willing to assist in any situation and she puts the best interests of the students at the forefront of her planning. To that end, Mrs. Thompson has also worked to have summer reading nights, nighttime bed stories shared digitally with families throughout the entire summer and most recently developed a program to allow students at home to still access the books in our library. Again, she is dedicated to doing what is best for students. She goes above and beyond to plan lessons that are meaningful and relatable. She is very flexible and is able to change an idea or lesson on a moment's notice and does so with a smile on her face. She is always willing to stop and help anyone and is a great resource for both staff and students. Mrs. Thompson is constantly thinking of and implementing exciting and educational activities for students. She is always open to trying new technology, ideas from teachers and students, and sharing her love for books in different and fun ways. There is nothing that Mrs. Thompson does not do! She goes above and beyond her library job. For all of these reasons, Mrs. Thompson deserves to be recognized.
