Franklin Middle Raises Money for Infusion Hoodies for Oishei

On Monday, March 17th, Franklin Middle School was excited to present a $500 check to Oishei Children's Hospital on behalf of Franklin Middle student Blake Davis. Blake is a current patient of Oishei who receives monthly infusions for Chronic Reoccurring Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO), a rare disease that only impacts one in a million. The money raised will be used to purchase infusion hoodies for patients at Oishei.

The idea came from Franklin Middle teacher Whitney Yorio-Sager who saw an ad for an infusion hoodie, which is a hooded sweatshirt that has zippers up each sleeve, allowing a patient to be warm and comfortable with an IV in their arm. Blake's mom, AnnMarie, purchased one for Blake to help with his monthly infusions. They loved it so much that they started inquiring about purchasing more for other children at the hospital.

With the help of Whitney, word got around Franklin Middle and teachers decided to use donations through Friday Dress Down days to help contribute toward the cause. With the help of Blake's parents, a total of $500 was raised with the intent of helping some of Blake's friends and hospital patients get an infusion hoodie of their own.

Way to go Blake and Franklin Middle!
