Kenmore West's Sierra Green Earns Youth of Year Award

Kenmore West student Sierra Green smiles with an award give to her

Kenmore West senior Sierra Green is being recognized for her commitment of service to the Ken-Ton community!

On March 12th, Green was honored by the Erie-Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club as a Youth of the Year. Green is a member of the Girl Scouts who has already earned her Gold Award, one of the highest honors a Girl Scout can achieve. She earned the award after starting a camp called "Sophia the Fierce", named after her friend and member of her troop, Sophia, who passed away from cancer in 2023. The camp gives kids all over Western New York who have been diagnosed with cancer the chance to have fun and enjoy a day away from home. Sierra spoke about the camp in a segment with News 4 Buffalo back in the fall of 2024. You can watch that segment by clicking here.

The Youth of the Year program is meant to honor outstanding students in the community who have exhibited excellence in academics and leadership. The program promotes good citizenship, a desire for greater scholastic achievement and development of well-rounded personalities in young adults of the community.
