Ken-Ton Musicians to Perform at Winter Youth Jazz Festival
On January 31st, several music students from Kenmore East and Kenmore West will be participating in the Winter Youth Jazz Festival.
The all-day event begins in the morning where musicians are able to attend various sessions at BOCES which include: band clinics, a drum clinic, a piano/bass/guitar clinic, jam sessions, recording sessions, and an improv room. Later that night, eight ensembles will be performing for their family & friends on Buffalo State University's campus split between two separate venues.
Our Ken-Ton students will be performing at the Burchfield Penney Art Center Auditorium with Kenmore West playing at 6:45 p.m., and Kenmore East playing at 7:30 p.m. The East and West bands will also be doing a combined number at the end of the show.
Our Ken-Ton performers will include nine members of the Kenmore West Bombo Combo: Midnite Blue group (led by Patrick Towey) who will be performing "A Night in Tunisia" by Dizzy Gillespie, "Have You Met Miss Jones" by Richard Rodgers, "My Favorite Things" by Richard Rodgers, and an additional yet to be determined song. Additionally, 23 members of the Kenmore East Bulldog Big Band (led by Towey and Phil Aguglia) will be performing "God Bless the Child", "Brass Machine", "Crescent River Ramble", and "A Song for Her".
