The Kenmore West girls varsity basketball team is already stepping up in a big way this holiday season.

Over the last few weeks, the team collected donations from family and friends, including clothing, jewelry, office supplies, socks, shoes, and winter accessories. Additionally, members of the team purchased several other items, including combs, brushes, deodorant, tissues, shampoo, lip balm, underwear, and winter accessories. On Friday, December 6th, the team got together to sort all the donated clothing, filling several garbage bags and suitcases. They then filled more than 20 backpacks with smaller items like toiletries, accessories, and more.

"This is a very special group of young ladies who showed incredible character," coach Jeff Martin said. "They understand their role as leaders in the community and embrace their opportunities to make the holidays a little brighter for those less fortunate."
