Kenmore West's Matt Lansing to Play in 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup

Ken-Ton student Matthew Lansing is one of 23 players nationwide selected to the U.S. Under-18 Men’s Select Team roster, which will be competing in the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup August 5-10 in Edmonton, Alberta. Matthew is one of four players from the state of New York. You can see the full roster here.

Matthew, a senior at Kenmore West High School, played his 2023-24 season for both the Buffalo Jr. Sabres (five goals, two assists in 15 regular season games; one goal, one assist in four playoff games) and the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL (13 games played, including two playoff games). He’s committed to Quinnipiac University.

You can watch Matthew and his team in action as all Team USA’s Hlinka Gretzky Cup games will be televised live on NHL Network. Their first game is set for August 5th at 5:30 p.m.

Since the tournament began in 1991, Team USA has finished in the top three of the Hlinka Tournament a total of 14 times. They won the tournament in 2003 and have nine 2nd place finishes and four 3rd place finishes, including in 2023.
