Kenmore West guidance counselor poses with Kenmore West student holding award.

Kenmore West student Anthony Amodeo was recently recognized by the Erie-Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club with the "Youth of the Year" award on March 13th, 2024. The award goes to a local student who has made a positive impact on others and exhibits leadership and community service-like qualities.

"Anthony is known both in and out of school as a conscientious, mature, independent, and humble student, with a dedication to volunteerism and community engagement," Kenmore West guidance counselor Nicole Zomerfeld said. "It's clear that Anthony’s commitment to the local and school community, coupled with maintaining academic excellence and positive relationships with others, make him an exemplary student."

Anthony is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the school's honor roll throughout high school. He volunteers for many school events and has served as a tour guide during parent/teacher nights, open houses, and alumni reunion events. He also volunteers at the KenTon Closet and takes part in fundraising efforts for local charities and organizations.

Anthony is the second Ken-Ton student to receive the Youth of the Year Award, following Kenmore East's Jonathan Ramsey who received the award in a ceremony on March 6th.
