Mungo to Compete at Indoor Track & Field State Championships

Kenmore West indoor track & field athlete Aniyah Mungo had herself a day at the Section VI meet on Friday, February 16th.

Mungo competed in the 300 meters and set a new school with a time of 41.36, good enough for a 1st place finish in the event. She will represent Kenmore West at the NYSPHSAA indoor track & field championships on March 2nd at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.

Several Kenmore East indoor track & field athletes also had great days and record times, despite not making the NYSPHSAA Championship field. They include: Jorja Smith set a new school record in the 1500m with a time of 5:16.45; Gianna Gullo, Kasia McGreor, Lily Ward, and Aydriana Evans set a new school record in the 4 x 400m with a time of 4:18.94; Gianna Gullo ran the 2nd fastest time in school history in the 55m with a time of 7.70; and Amelia Morris jumped the 2nd highest high jump in school history with a height of 5' 1''.
