Kenmore West's Gaia Godinho Earns Girl Scouts Gold Award

Gaia Godinho poses with her Gold Award from the Girl Scouts.

Gaia Godinho, an 11th grader at Kenmore West High School, earned her Girl Scout Gold Award over the weekend, a huge honor from the national organization.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor among Girl Scouts, with only 6% earning the award nationally every year. Gaia was one of 31 girls in Western New York honored with the award during a ceremony on Saturday, June 3rd in Rochester, NY.

Gold Award Girl Scouts are defined as helping fix a problem in their community or making a lasting change in their world. Gaia has spent over 80 hours designing, planning, organizing, and building a permanent archery range at a local Girl Scout camp. This new range will be enjoyed by many Girl Scouts for years to come!

Congratulations Gaia!
