Kenmore East's Ava Valkwitch to Have Artwork Displayed in D.C.
Congratulations to Kenmore East 9th grader Ava Valkwitch who will have her artwork recognized nationally!
On May 8th, Valkwitch was honored during a ceremony with Congressman Brian Higgins and was later announced as the 26th District Congressional Art Competition winner. The competition included an online voting process that included several students in Western New York. Her painting, which was an acrylic piece of Reinstein Woods, will be sent to Washington D.C. and will be displayed in the Capitol Building. Ava and her family will also be flown to D.C. for the ribbon-cutting ceremony this June.
Kenmore East students Michael Bly and Ali Qamachi also had their work displayed and received certificates for their pieces. Bly’s piece was a photo titled “Vista” while Qamachi’s piece was a photo titled “Reflections”.
