Kenmore West Student Earns Local "Youth of the Year" Award

Kenmore West student Bryce Chatham poses with his Youth of the Year certificate

Kenmore West student Bryce Chatham was recently recognized as a Youth of the Year by the Erie-Niagara Sunrise Exchange Club. The award goes to a Kenmore West student each year who has made a positive impact on others. Award recipients are typically those who exhibit leadership and community service-like qualities.

Chatham is a senior honors student. He is in the aviation program and has a Master in Science, which is a difficult thing to accomplish, per his guidance counselor, Katie Welnowski. He’s also involved in wrestling and volleyball. Outside of school, Chatham recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

“It was wonderful,” Welnowski said about Chatham’s honor. “I love seeing students recognized not only for academics, but for being a great person who has made a difference in our community.”

Along with his recognition, Chatham earned a certificate, money, and an American flag.
