4th Grade Edison student, Shayne Yiengst, shows off some of the cozy pajamas that were donated.

Students and staff at Edison Elementary School participated in a school-wide community service project to collect pajamas for the Ken-Ton Closet. Edison Art Teacher Wendy Yiengst organized and facilitated the drive. A total of 379 pajamas were proudly collected and will be distributed to families right here in Ken-Ton.

Mrs. Yiengst encouraged the students to do chores or acts of kindness to earn the money to purchase pajamas. Many found creative ways to be able to donate. Several used their birthday money to purchase pajamas and others did small jobs for family members to be able to buy pajamas in which to donate.

"It is always wonderful to watch the students become so excited about helping other children," Mrs. Yiengst said. "They couldn't wait to show me the pajamas they brought in and eagerly shared stories about where they shopped or how the pajamas they were donating used to be their favorite pair. The pajama drive is a wonderful way for kids to experience the act of giving."
