Return to School Information

  • Please Note: The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has updated its quarantine and isolation guidelines effective March 1, 2022. The latest NYSDOH guidelines can be found here.

Isolation (Those Who Test Positive or are Symptomatic):
    • Those Who Test Positive (regardless of vaccination status/symptoms):
      • Stay home and isolate for at least 5 full days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms or the date of the positive test). If symptoms persist, further isolation will be required; otherwise, they may attend school or work after the 5-day isolation. If returning to school after isolation, students/staff must wear a mask for 5 additional days (days 6-10).
    • Those Who Are Symptomatic:
      • WITHOUT NEGATIVE TEST RESULT: Stay home and isolate for at least 5 full days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms or the date of the positive test). If symptoms persist, further isolation will be required; otherwise, they may attend school or work after the 5-day isolation. If returning to school after isolation, students/staff must wear a mask for 5 additional days (days 6-10).
      • WITH NEGATIVE TEST RESULT: Student may return to school if symptoms do not impair their ability to remain at school during the school day. Examples of such symptoms include but are not limited to vomiting, fever, moderate to severe sore throat, or severe headache. Test may be PCR or antigen (at-home tests are accepted).
    • Those With Mild Symptoms:

Exposure (Those Who Come Into Contact With One Who Tests Positive):
    • Per NYSDOH, those who are exposed or potentially exposed should wear a mask and test as recommended.
