In the ‘legend’ of Robin,  beyond the swashbuckling, humor and romance, we find the story of an ordinary and flawed man, like all of us, who chooses to change his community for the better, and in the process, he himself is changed. Ken Ludwig’s new farcical  take on this classic tale brings us back to Robin Hood’s social justice roots. It feels like a timely piece...and is full of laughter!

We are half-way through German week.  How about having a big pretzel, or a slice of one of Germany’s more than 300 varieties of bread with butter to celebrate?  Did you know that tuition is totally free at German universities, even to international students?  Germany is actually the fourth most popular country to study for international students because of the low cost and academic excellence.  There are many opportunities for German high school and college students to win free trips to Germany through the many organizations and government agencies that support German American relations.  If you always wanted to travel but don’t think you can afford it, stick with German and apply for one of the many scholarships available.  Today, our German students are participating in a live Google Meet with a student in Germany.  They will be getting first-person knowledge of life in Germany.

Please return all ice packs to the Health Office as soon as possible.

There will be no school Monday, October 11, for the Columbus Day holiday.

Happy German Week!   If you are out and about this weekend, take a look at Aldi and Trader Joe’s to see the German items they have to offer.  If you are home this weekend, search the internet for recipes and try your hand making German black forest cake, Bienenstich cake – also known as bee sting cake because of the honey in it, or even Schnitzel.  As we wrap up, Frau Crusan would like to remind all German students that applications for the trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan as due today, and permission slips for our Oktoberfest are due Wednesday.  We hope you have enjoyed learning more about Germany and German Americans this week!  Auf Wiedersehen!

Happy German Week!  Did you know that Germany has the 4th largest economy in the world, and has the strongest economy in all of Europe?  German is also a language that is commonly learned by Chinese and Japanese students, along with most students in Europe.  If you need to communicate with someone who doesn’t know much English, try German!  From Christmas trees to Kindergarten, Snoopy to President Herbert Hoover, and from X-rays to hot dogs — German-Americans have contributed significantly to American life and culture.
