Blue Devils Football
My name is John Haynes and I am the new head coach of the Kenmore West Football Program. I want to personally welcome and encourage all of you to become a part of our program. We are excited that your child has signed up to play this year. We are looking forward to an exciting year, as we have just finished up our passing league. This letter is an initial communication primarily to announce a couple of important dates. You will be given much more information at the parent meeting on May 21st at 12:30pm in the Kenmore West H.S. cafeteria.
The first important date is today, May 3rd, where each player on the varsity will receive 3 boxes of candy for Varsity and 2 boxes of candy for JV. For varsity, this will cover T-shirts, shorts, banquet ticket, and Penn State Football Camp. For JV, it will cover T-shirt, shorts, and banquet ticket. The money will be due on May 21st at the parent meeting in order to get their summer workout attire. At the meeting, we will collect the money for the candy, distribute the uniforms, and share a lot of information regarding our summer weight lifting program and start of practice. These are very important meetings.
There is a change in the format of athletic physicals this year. All athletes that are presently at Kenmore West will receive physicals during the school day on Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th (*THESE WILL BE THE ONLY DATES THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL PROVIDE SPORTS PHYSICALS*). Those choosing to take advantage of these physicals will be set for any sport they play next year.
We are running a Flag Football/skills program in the month of May on Saturday’s from 10:30am-12:00pm at Kenmore West High School for boys/girls ages 8-13. All participants will receive a water bottle and a T-shirt. The cost is $50.
The Power Camp dates will be June 1st-24th on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at Kenmore West High School. The Varsity will meet from 3:15-4:45 and JV will meet from 4:45-6:15. Players are to wait outside Door 26 for Coach Gary.
We will be running fundamentals, skills, special teams, offense, and defense in the month of July 5th-28th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am-8:30am at Kenmore West High School. The varsity football team will be going to a Penn State one day football clinic/7-on-7 passing camp on Saturday, June 18th. The bus will be leaving Longfellow locker rooms at 5:00am and returning home at 9:30pm. There will be forms that the boys will need to have signed and returned before going to Penn State.
Football camp will begin this year on August 15th.
We will be having 2 fundraisers this year. We will be selling the bonus cards where each player is responsible for selling 10 cards and Krispy Kreme donuts where each player is responsible for selling 10. Each player will receive a duffle bag with Kenmore West Football on it.
Thank you, and we will see you on the 21st of May.
