Dear Families, Students, Staff and Friends:
On behalf of the Edison administration, facility and staff, I would like to welcome our new and returning students and their families.
This is an exciting time as our "family" continues to grow, resulting in much - needed physical enhancement of the school grounds and an addition of 6 classrooms. Construction started this summer on the parking lot and bus loop and drainage areas. The fall of 2022 should see the start of construction of a new bus-loop-entrance and classrooms. During the construction work that occurs off hours, our arrival and dismissal routines as well as student instruction will be unaffected.
At Edison, we believe in relationships first. Our staff realizes that these fundamental connections can last a lifetime. Knowing the challenges that lie outside of our walls, the Edison staff continues to support Trauma Based Instruction and Restorative Practices. Each child deserves a safe, nurturing place - and for many, Edison is home.
I hope you will become a familiar face at Edison. I invite you to take advantage of our many evening programs we offer, including open house, literacy and math nights, and Book Fairs. Our PTA is always looking for volunteers - a great way to meet families and make friends to last a lifetime. Most of all, I encourage you to talk with your child about their school day. Read a book with them and experience the awe and wonder of an elementary child. There's nothing better!
Here's to a great year, new connections and endless learning opportunities!
Mr. King

Hello Edison Community,It has been an exciting start to the school year! As students and staff can finally operate without COVID restrictions for the first time in years, there has been a renewed focus on strengthening relationships. In Ken-Ton, and at Edison, Social Emotional Health & Wellness are a top priority. Our goals include creating safe, welcoming, and Inclusive environments. As I walk through the halls each morning, I'm proud to say that students are starting their day in circles. This community building structure allows everyone to have a voice and helps students and staff build strong relationships while getting to know each other. With being a trauma-informed school and district, principles such as safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, and empowerment are so important to us.Academically, our focus continues to be Instruction for ALL Students. Our teachers have created responsive learning environments that put the students first. In all subject areas, including our specials, a combination of direct instruction, inquiry, and small group work is allowing students to acquire necessary skills while also becoming critical thinkers and problem solvers.Edison is an exciting place to be right now! We want our families to be a part of the growth and changes. Your involvement plays such an important part in the success and well-being of the kids - you are their first teachers! We are excited for this continued partnership as we watch the building transform and the students grow!Wishing everyone a great year,Mr. Mitrovits
