On Wednesday, May 22nd, four Kenmore East High School and Kenmore West High School art students were recognized at the Police Athletic League Awards at Lewiston-Porter High School. The event honors top senior visual and performing artists from ten schools in Erie and Niagara County. Each student had their artwork displayed and received an engraved trophy during a special awards ceremony!
Congratulations to Kenmore East's Sophia Puma and Kenmore West's Emma Dee for winning the Fritz Proctor Visual Art 2D award; Kenmore East's Castiel Frye for winning the Thomas Hamilton Jr. Photography Art award; and Kenmore West's Eva Deeb for winning the Digital Art award.
On Thursday, May 23rd, an additional 15 Kenmore East art students visited Villa Maria College with teachers Denise Carr and Meagan Sheppard for the inaugural regional arts competition! Around 165 students in the area participated. Students brought their own supplies and created artwork “on the spot” over a period of two hours. The theme was “Music in Motion”. Congratulations to 8th graders Chloe Christman and Madison Mihalics who won awards in the Emerging Artists category!
