Edison Elementary 'Links 4 Love' Campaign Raises $700+ for SleepOut

The Edison Elementary School community raised $723.50 through its second annual “Links 4 Love” campaign to support the Jerry Starr Ken-Ton Schools’ SleepOut.

Since 1988, a group of employees from the Ken-Ton School District known as Educators Totally Committed (E.T.C.) has sought to address the ongoing needs of the poor with three words: awareness, commitment, and action. The focus is to make school communities aware of people in need, show commitment to helping them, and take action, culminating in the annual SleepOut.

As part of the Links 4 Love campaign, Edison Elementary students were able to “buy” a paper chain link for 25 cents with many students buying many links at a time. The paper links were all linked together into chains that were draped and displayed throughout the school.

The money all went to the SleepOut, which took place on Feb. 2 and directly supports local organizations like the Family Support Center and Ken-Ton Closet. The paper chains created an impressive visual representation of the student’s accomplishment. They allowed students to see how big of an impact they can have by each doing their own small part.
