All middle and high school students are invited to take part in the After-School Writing Center to improve their writing, get feedback, and grow as a writer! These sessions are perfect for students at any skill level, from aspiring young authors to anyone wishing to improve their skills as a writer.
Free sessions are offered on scheduled Thursdays beginning at 2:45 p.m. in the Kenmore East Library and the Kenmore West Library for high school students, and on scheduled Saturdays beginning at 10 a.m. at the Kenmore Middle School Building, located at 155 Delaware Road in Kenmore, in Room 105 for all middle and high school students. Sessions are approximately 30-45 minutes long. Students need not make appointments and may come for all or part of the session. Each Saturday session will focus on a particular topic followed by time for one-on-one conferences.

- Saturday, February 2: Visit by author Mick Cochrane, including a reading from his young adult novel "The Girl Who Threw Butterflies," a chat about writing, questions/answers, and a brief writing exercise for students

The After-School Writing Center is led by Dr. Tom Reigstad, a Ken-Ton School District Board of Education Trustee and an Emeritus Professor of English as SUNY Buffalo State, and Dr. Rita Pollard, Adjunct Professor of English at Niagara University. Dr. Reigstad and Dr. Pollard both earned their doctoral degrees in composition and rhetoric at the University of Buffalo, taught English at the secondary level and in higher education, and have served as directors of college tutorial writing centers.
