Kenmore West 2018 Graduate Wins AAUW Scholarshop
Congratulations to Kenmore West High School graduate Anna Cryan who was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the Buffalo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
For more than 15 years, the AAUW Buffalo Branch has awarded scholarships to two senior girls graduating from a high school in Erie or Niagara County with a grade point average of at least 95 percent or 3.5.
Anna Cryan is a 2018 graduate of Kenmore West where she earned a 100.68 GPA and ranked sixth in her class. She is attending Canisius College to pursue a degree in psychology with a minor in Studio Art that will lead her to her goal of becoming a Board-Certified Art Therapist.
She was in Ken West's AP Honors and International Baccalaureate Programs, played flute, piccolo, keyboard/keyboard bass in various ensembles, was secretary of her school's National Honor Society, played on the girls’ tennis team, and was a member of her school's Science Olympiad. As co-founder of the Homework Program at the Kenmore Public Library, Anna has learned the excitement and reward of helping children. As editor of the Kenmore Library Newsletter and Teen-zinc and Buffalo-Niagara YMCA Teen Leaders Club, she has seen the value of participating in community activities. In 2015, she won the Best Multimedia Design Award at a UB art exhibition.
