12/9/22: Message for Kenmore East High School Families

At approximately 10:00 a.m. today (Friday, December 9th), Kenmore East High School was evacuated due to a fire alarm. The source of the alarm was immediately identified as a small fire isolated to a second-floor restroom, which was extinguished within moments by a staff member. The fire department arrived, investigated the scene, and determined it was safe for students/staff to return to the building. Students were able to return within 15 minutes.

Students are to be commended for the exceptional job they did following the established fire drill procedures. We also commend English teacher John Burns, the staff member who extinguished the fire, as well as our local fire departments that responded. The cause of the fire was determined and will result in student disciplinary action.
