Hoover Elementary Students Create Valentine's Day Cards for Veterans
New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs recently paid a special visit to Hoover Elementary School to help first- and second-grade students demonstrate their appreciation for the service and sacrifice of local veterans.
With the help of Sen. Jacobs and his staff, the students at Hoover Elementary made hundreds of decorative Valentine’s Day cards which were then distributed to local veterans. The students greatly enjoyed the opportunity to express their gratitude toward our nation’s veterans in a way that also enabled them to use their creativity.
One of those who received a card was Neil Miller, a veteran of the U.S Navy who served aboard the Forrestal-class supercarrier Saratoga from 1964 to 1968. Miller wanted to extend his appreciation to Sen. Jacobs and Hoover Elementary students and staff for their efforts to reach out to the veterans of Western New York this Valentine’s Day.
“If I may speak for all of us vets – thank you,” Miller said.
