Kenmore East Band Program to Welcome U.S. Army Field Band
Kenmore East High School is proud to welcome the renowned U.S. Army Field Band for a special guest concert beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4. The Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus of the Army Field Band will perform “The Army Story,” a celebration of the U.S. Army’s legacy and the sacrifice of our nation’s soldiers. This very special event is free and open to the public.
The concert, part of the Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus 2019 Spring Tour, will feature a variety of classical, semi-classical, and popular music selections as well as choral arrangements, novelty numbers, military marches, and patriotic favorites.
“Since 1775, the Army has been an integral part of our nation's journey, through times of struggle and innovation,” reads the concert description. “ ‘The Army Story’ brings audience members the music that has had a large impact on American culture and the perception of soldiers' lives and sacrifices. Through musical and visual elements, ‘The Army Story’ reminds Americans of the contributions, service and sacrifice of our soldiers.”
The U.S. Army Field Band, stationed at Fort George G. Meade, represents one of the premier music ensembles of the U.S. Military and the musical ambassadors of the U.S. Army. Every four years, the U.S. Army Field Band leads the Presidential Inaugural Parade through the streets of Washington D.C. In addition, the U.S. Army Field Band performs hundreds of concerts every year and has performed throughout the world and in all 50 states.
An alumnus of Kenmore East High School, William H. Jones, tallied more than 5,000 concerts with the U.S. Army Field Band as its principal French horn player, featured soloist, and assistant conductor.
The concert finale will feature Kenmore East High School musicians who will perform side-by-side with the members of the U.S. Army Field Band.
Tickets are free and are available in the Kenmore East High School Main Office, the Band Department, or online. Click here for tickets:
