Free FAFSA Assistance Available Through Family Support Center

Beginning Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, students and families will be able to receive free assistance in completing the 2020-21 FAFSA form through a new program being offered through the Ken-Ton School District Family Support Center.

The program is open to families of all Kenmore East and Kenmore West students. Appointments will be available on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 7, and they will take place at the Family Support Center located at 255 Myron Avenue in Kenmore (behind the Kenmore Middle School Building). Appointments may be made by calling 874-8510.

Please note the following steps which must be taken before coming to an appointment:

  • Determine Whose Financial Information is Needed for the FAFSA: Given that the vast majority of our students are considered dependent students, the FAFSA requires not only financial information of the student but those who they are dependent on. Click here for an easy flowchart which can help you determine which adult(s)’s financial information is needed to complete the FAFSA.
  • Create an FSA ID for Student and One Parent: The FSA ID is a username and password that allows you to electronically sign your FAFSA. We strongly recommend creating the FSA IDs ahead of time. To create the FSA IDs, simply go to FSAID.ed.gov. It takes approximately 10 minutes to create and up to three days to process. We will not be able to submit your final FAFSA without them.
  • Bring the Required Financial Information to Complete FAFSA: Please refer to the FASFA Checklist to determine the required financial information you will need to bring to the appointment.

If you have questions regarding whose/what financial information you will need before your appointment, you should contact the FAFSA Hotline at (800) 4 FED AID (1-800-433-3243).

If you do not have all the required information, we will not be able to complete the FAFSA by the time you leave your appointment.

We will be completing the FAFSA on secure district computers. However, if you prefer to bring your own laptop, please feel free to do so.
