Ken East's Nicholas Krey Breaks Record in Virtual Stock Market Challenge
Nicholas Krey, a senior at Kenmore East High School, recently bested more than 700 students from all over Western New York, competing in a stock market challenge simulation for 10 days. The virtual competition, which included several Ken-Ton students, was sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank.
The purpose of the Stock Market Challenge is to give students a better understanding of trading strategies and portfolio management. Students make their own trades during an online stock market challenge using fictitious money.
Nicholas not only took first place, but broke the record for the total ROI on his portfolio. He built a portfolio of $1,499,328.56 and has earned the opportunity to participate in the in-person Stock Market Championship on May 2nd at Erie 1 BOCES.
Michael Pawlowski, also a senior at Kenmore East, finished in 9th place. Sophomores Zack Kates (15th), Josh Skura (17th) and Carter DuVall (18th) finished in the top 20.
