Alumnus Colin Lynch, Now at West Point, Returns to Kenmore West for IB Visit
Colin Lynch, a 2017 graduate of Kenmore West High School now attending West Point, returned to his alma mater on Nov. 19 to speak with students in the school's International Baccalaureate (IB) program about how the program helped prepare him for the rigors of life as a West Point cadet.
Colin was selected by West Point to be a speaker at area high schools and was sent home early for break to visit several area schools including Kenmore West. Colin was especially interested in speaking to students in the IB Program because he believes the program not only helped prepare him for where he is now, but ultimately helped him be accepted into West Point, one of the most selective and prestigious institutions in the country.
In February 2017, during his senior year, Colin learned that he had been accepted into West Point after being nominated by Congressman Brian Higgins. Colin was not only an IB student but was also a member of the National Honor Society, third in his class, the first alternate student representative on the Board of Education, a successful middle distance runner for the Kenmore West track/cross country teams, and an accomplished tenor saxophone player in the Kenmore West band program.
