Important Message for Hoover Elementary & Middle School Parents (April 14, 2019)

This evening, school and district officials were made aware of rumors regarding a perceived threat to the safety of students at Hoover Middle School. These rumors originated with a message posted to social media earlier today. The safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority, and we want to assure all parents that this threat was unsubstantiated and that students are not in any danger.

In order to protect student confidentiality, there is limited information that we can provide over what we believe these rumors were based on. A couple of weeks ago, school officials and the Town of Tonawanda Police Department worked in conjunction to investigate a concerning note written by a student. We all take these matters extremely seriously and immediately conducted a thorough investigation. Police determined that there was no actual threat to student safety, and appropriate action was taken. The student has not returned to school.

Like you, we take any concern over student safety extremely seriously. In order to assure parents that students are not in any danger, we have asked the Town of Tonawanda Police Department to be present at the school on Monday, April 15. This is not being done because there is a threat to student safety; this is only being done out of an abundance of caution and to assure parents who may be concerned as a result of these rumors.

Please feel free to contact the school tomorrow if you have any questions and concerns. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
