Below is this year's Wellness Year at a Glance:

Wellness Events:

Big Apple Crunch

During the week of October 23rd, we celebrated New York State's apple harvest with the Big Apple Crunch! All students and staff in the district put aside what they were doing to take a big bite of a locally grown apple. Food Service Director Kim Roll is able to provide, coordinate, and distribute over 8,600 apples district-wide for the crunch!

Harvest Festivals and Wellness Nights:

Each year, the district hosts two exciting events for students and their families — the Harvest Festival in the fall and the Wellness Festival in the spring.
These fun-filled evenings feature a variety of games, hands-on activities, healthy food tastings, and fresh produce for families to take home. Be on the lookout for upcoming dates each season!

Our Farm to School Coordinator, Nicole Zugelder, brings her expertise to both events by leading DIY healthy food creations and organizing meet-and-greets with local farmers — helping students and families connect with the food they eat and the people who grow it.

District Wellness Week

Each spring, we celebrate Wellness Week as a fun and meaningful way to promote healthy living across the district.
In addition to district-wide themed spirit days, students and families can look forward to a variety of exciting wellness-focused activities. More details about specific events will be shared as the week approaches.

Mark your calendars! Wellness Week 2026 will take place from March 23–27 — stay tuned for theme announcements and activity schedules!

Harvest of the Month

Harvest of the Month

The Ken-Ton School District's Food Service Department promotes a Harvest of the Month that highlights fruits and vegetables that are featured on the monthly lunch menus. Students will learn about the benefits of the foods in school, have an opportunity to try them as a part of the school lunch program, and use the recipe on the back of the lunch calendar to make a fun recipe at home. Click here for the monthly menu.

Cook Kits

To celebrate the Harvest of the Month, Farm to School Coordinator Nicole Zugelder organizes and distributes monthly “Cook Kits” featuring that month’s highlighted ingredient.
Each month, one school is selected to receive the kits, which include all the ingredients and step-by-step instructions needed to make a healthy, delicious recipe at home.

Past Cook Kits have featured fun recipes like homemade pizza, hearty soups, and nutritious pancakes — giving students and families a hands-on way to explore fresh, local foods together!
