• NOTES:
REMEMBER ALL POSTS AND REACTIONS NEED TO BE AT LEAST 250 WORDS LONG!

AVOID SUMMARY. WE ARE ALL READING THE BOOK AND KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING. SHOW US WHAT YOU ARE THINKING AND THEN USE THE TEXT TO SUPPORT THOSE IDEAS AND CONCLUSIONS -- THIS IS MORE THAN A SIMPLE SUMMARY.

Be sure to bookmark this page. This is the page I will use to make any announcements to the class.

To ease our navigation somewhat, I have divided the class into four groups. On your handout, you were placed into either group A, B, C or D.

(You may have noticed that paragraph breaks do not show up in your entries. You can add paragraph breaks by typing "/" in between two brackets "<" and ">". I can't write it without adding a paragraph break.]

Last year we had problems with the word "script" -- including when people wrote "description." If only a fraction of your post appears online, this may be the problem.

As you think about your entries, this outline may help:
    • Initial Reactions -- what were you thinking as you were reading? what did you react to the most?
    • Description -- what were the details or information in the reading that caught your attention?
    • Analysis -- why do you think the author presented that information? what argument do you think he/she is trying to make?
    • Evaluation -- is the book working or not?
You are trying to build your writing to include more ANALYSIS and EVALUATION than INITIAL REACTIONS and DESCRIPTION.

If you have not yet bought both books, there are~ 20 copies of each book available in the Main Office. Be sure to sign-out the book and record the book number the sign-out sheet.
