Return to Play Concussion Protocol
- After a concussion
- Rest 2 to 3 day
- Take off 1 to 2 days from school
- After a return to school
- Half days to start
- Take break times
- Extended time for tests and homework
- Return to Play (Once athlete is symptom free)
- Back to regular non-sports activities
- Return to school
- Light aerobic exercise
- Walking on treadmill or stationary bike
- Sports-specific exercise
- Skating (no contact)
- Non-contact training drills
- Exercise, coordination, and increased thinking
(passing & shooting, no contact)
- Practice and full contact activity
- Take part in normal practice with no restrictions
- Return to game competition
Note: If symptoms return at any step, the athlete must rest until symptoms subside. After which they go back to the previous step.
