Spanish Exchange

The Ken-Ton Spanish Exchange has been active for over 20 years. The bi-annual trip includes hosting a group of students from Santa Marta de Tormes, Spain in the fall, followed by Ken-Ton students traveling to Spain in the spring. While in Spain, students stay with host families, attend school, and participate in field trips to places around the region, including: Salamanca (known for its prestigious University and historic architecture), Segovia (with a Roman style aqueduct and the famous Alcazar Castle), El Escorial (that has the King's Summer Palace) and Toledo (a historic city that is characterized by blend of cultures and religions). For the last few days of the trip, the group always visits Madrid, Spain's capital, where they have the chance to see the Royal Palace, The Reina Sofía and Prado art museums, as well as a famous park called Parque del Buen Retiro. Evening highlights include a flamenco dance dinner show and a meal in the oldest restaurant in Madrid.
Trips like these can yield a life-changing experience that builds global citizenship. Our exchange programs are an integral part of the Ken-Ton experience. We are so lucky to provide this for our students and build connections inside and outside the classroom.
