2025 Student Artist Reception

Student artists, art teachers, and Board of Education members were recognized at the 2025 Student Artist Reception & Board of Education Recognition on October 21st.

For this event, one student from each school is selected to have their artwork framed and displayed in the Kenmore Junior/Senior High School Community Room for the remainder of the year then at Kenmore Mercy Hospital the following year. These students and their art teachers are recognized at the reception as their work is unveiled. Students were:

  • Azaan Mahmud: “Self Portrait” (Teacher: Andrea Spoth at Franklin ES)
  • Avyon Lighten-Zarbo: “Beautiful Cardinals” (Teacher: Brianne Nightingale at Holmes ES)
  • Ella Zomerfeld: “Just Hangin’ Around” (Teacher: Jennifer Lynch at Hoover ES)
  • Lillian Pyle: “Cactus Still Life” (Teacher: Linsey Buchlis at Lindbergh ES)
  • Kendall Nickell: “Untitled” (Teacher: Sarah Sonnenberg at Franklin MS)
  • Rita Fleckenstein: “Blooming Lilies” (Teacher: Jessica Indridson at Hoover MS)
  • Zoe-Grace Kerr: “The Forest Protector” (Teacher: Jennifer Leone at Kenmore Junior/Senior HS)
  • Amelia MacKinnon: “Sunrise Bay” (Teacher: Denise Carr at Kenmore East HS)
  • Eddie George: “Nothing’s Gonna Change My World” (Teacher: Anna Emerson at Kenmore West HS)

Artwork by two students, one from the elementary level and one from the secondary level, is selected to be duplicated, framed, and presented to each Board member as a token of gratitude for their service. The students selected this year were Kendall Nickell and Josie Flynn.

This event coincides with School Board Recognition Week, which is celebrated in communities across New York State to recognize the efforts of those who serve on our local boards of education. In Ken-Ton, the school district is governed by five trustees who volunteer their time to serve the students and residents of the district:
