The Ken-Ton School District is widely regarded in the WNY arts community as having one of the region’s premier K-12 art education programs.

With close partnerships with local art galleries and organizations, students are exposed to a robust offering of art education programs beginning in kindergarten. Among Ken-Ton’s approximately 20 full-time art teachers are accomplished artists whose work has been showcased across the region.

Kenmore East and Kenmore West offer courses in areas such as drawing, painting, animation, photography, three-dimensional art, digital illustration, sculpture, graphic design, and advertising, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Students can take advantage of the NYS Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP), which gives them a different option to earn their Regents Diploma through the arts. Students can take a series of either digital or traditional media courses that culminate in a professional-grade portfolio.

An awareness and understanding of visual communication and expression is vital in order to appreciate the vast diversity of the human experience and to succeed in the world today. The Ken-Ton School District art curriculum is designed to stimulate and challenge students’ imaginations, develop their technical artistic skills, and strengthen critical thinking skills by responding to and analyzing works of art.
