    AMERICAN LEGION 8TH DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  This scholarship is intended to assist NY State veterans, their families, and patriotic students. 

                Awards:  two $1,500 scholarships

                Deadline:  May 1

     

    BUFFALO STATE COLLEGE – PHYSICS SCHOLARHIPS

                Eligibility:  Seniors that plan on majoring in Physics at Buffalo State may apply. 

                Awards:  $4,000 per year

                Deadline:  not available

     

    BUFFALO URBAN LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors or recent HSE Diploma recipients (within the current year) who plan on attending college may apply. To be eligible, you must have an acceptance letter for the college you are planning on attending in the fall and you must have applied for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov)

                Awards:  $250 to $4,000

                Deadline:  March 13

               

    COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR GREATER BUFFALO

                Eligibility:  Seniors that have at least “C” average may apply. 

                Awards:  numerous awards with varying amounts (up to $6,000)

                Deadline:  April 30

     

    EIGHTH DISTRICT FEDERATED GARDEN CLUBS OF NEW YORK STATE

                Eligibility:  Seniors who will be enrolling in a two or four-year college and plan to major in agriculture, botany, conservation, environmental science, forestry, horticulture, or wildlife science may apply.

                Award:  $1,000

                Deadline:  postmarked by March 31

               

    EMBRACE OF WESTERN NEW YORK SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Applicants must be a graduate or have received their GED and must have been actively involved in an LGBT/Allies type of organization (in college, trade school or high school GSA) Seniors:  take an application and save it for when you are enrolled in college or trade school!

                Awards:  a minimum of $1,500

                Deadline:  There is NO deadline.  Applications are reviewed four times per year.

     

    FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK

                Eligibility:  please go to www.fasny.com for details. 

                Awards:  twenty-five $1,500 scholarships

                Deadline:  March 15

     

    HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (HSA) OF KENMORE WEST BLUE DEVIL

       AWARD

                Eligibility:  Seniors may apply.  This is NOT an academic scholarship.  An essay is required. 

                Awards:  three $250 awards to Ken West students

                Deadline:  May 1

     

    KENMORE WEST ALUMNI FOUNDATION FOUR YEAR SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that will be attending college on a full-time basis in a four-year program may apply.  Applicants must have attended Kenmore West for at least two years and maintained a minimum 80 average.  Applicants must also demonstrate academic accomplishments, career goals, personal needs, and have participated in school or community activities.

                Awards: numerous awards up to $6,000

                Deadline:  must be returned to Mrs. Bowman in the Counseling/Career Center no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3

     

    KENMORE WEST ALUMNI FOUNDATION TWO YEAR SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that have attended Kenmore West for at least two years and plan on attending college on a full-time basis in a two-year program may apply.  Applicants must demonstrate academic accomplishments, career goals, personal needs, and have participated in school or community activities.

                Awards:  up to $3,000

                Deadline:  must be returned to Mrs. Bowman in the Counseling/Career Center no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3

     

    KENMORE WEST ALUMNI FOUNDATION SKILLED TRADES

       SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that have attended Kenmore West for at least two years and plan on pursuing career training in the skilled trades may apply.  The training facility must be licensed and/or certified in the state.  Apprenticeships may be considered.

                Award:  up to $3,000

                Deadline:  must be returned to Mrs. Bowman in the Counseling/Career Center no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3

     

    KENMORE WEST FOUNDATION TECHNICAL/BUSINESS/TECHNOLOGY/

       TRADE/NURSING TWO YEAR SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that have attended Kenmore West for at least two years and maintained a minimum of an 80 average may apply.  Applicants must be planning on attending a college on a full-time basis in a two-year program leading to a degree in a technical, business, technology, trade or nursing field.

                Award:  up to $3,500

                Deadline:  must be returned to Mrs. Bowman in the Counseling/Career Center no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3

     

    KIDS PLAY SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that have participated in at least one session of Kids Play program may apply.  Applicants can be applying to a two or four- year college.

                Award:  $1,000

                Deadline:  April 20

     

    McLERNON MEMORIAL UB ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  This scholarship is awarded to a Kenmore West Senior that plans on attending the University of Buffalo in the engineering program.

                Awards:  up to $2,000

                Deadline:  March 31

     

    NEW YORK STATE 2020-21 EXCELSIOR SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Seniors that will be pursuing a two or four-year degree and going to a State University of New York (SUNY) may apply.    Families must make less than $125,000 per year.

                Amounts:  tuition

     

    NEW YORK STATE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS

                Eligibility:  The Li S.Liu, Prof. Engineer, Memorial Scholarship is given annually to a high school senior from Western New York who is accepted into an accredited engineering program.

                Awards:  numerous awards ranging from $500 to $1,500

                Deadline:  March 20

     

    NEW YORK WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN NEW

        YORK

                Eligibility:  Seniors that will be pursuing a degree in an environmental- related curriculum such as biology, forestry, chemistry, engineering, and water/wastewater treatment may apply.

                Awards:  Three $1, 500, one $1,250, and one $1,000 awards

                Deadline:  March 18

     

    SPEECH-LANGUAGE-HEARING ASSOC. OF WNY (SHAWNY) SCHOL.

                Eligibility:  Any seniors with a speech, language, and/or hearing impairment who plans to further his/her education and has benefited from speech and or hearing services is eligible to apply.

                Award:  amount to be determined

                Deadline:  March 25

     

          SOMEBODY’S SOMEONE – A KENMORE WEST SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  This scholarship was established by parents that have lost their children from an accidental drug overdose.   Kenmore West seniors that have an overall average of 80 or above may apply.  Applicants must submit an essay on why they deserve the scholarship, inclusive of how substance abuse disorder has affected their life or others close to them.

                Awards:  two $400 scholarships will be awarded

                Deadline:  April 30

     

    SOUTHWESTERN ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTEER FIREMEN

                Eligibility:  Seniors that are a member, junior member, ladies’ auxiliary member or Fire Explorer of a SWAVF member fire department OR be the child or grandchild of an active member, ladies’ auxiliary member, or exempt member of a SWAVF member fire department OR be the child or grandchild of an Officer, Past Officer, Committee Member, Life Member, or Annually Registered member of the SWAVF or SWAVF Ladies’ auxiliary may apply.

                Awards:  one $600 award and three $150 awards

                Deadline:  April 15

     

    STUDENT INSIGHTS SCHOLARSHIP

                Eligibility:  Applicants must complete a 15-20 minute survey about colleges in your area.

                Awards:  one $5,000, two $1,000, and ten $500 scholarships

                Deadline:  April 22

     

    TASTE OF BUFFALO POSTER ART CONTEST

                Eligibility:  Students 13 years old and up may enter.

                Awards:  $500

                Deadline:  April 3

     

    TYCZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (A VETERAN SCHOLARSHIP)

                Eligibility:  Seniors who have a relative who is/was a veteran (Reservists who have completed 180 continuous days of service are considered veterans) may apply.  Applicants must also demonstrate academic achievement and community service.

                Award:  $250
