The ten-week per grade level curriculum prepares students to be competent and responsible adolescents. Life skills presented focus on problem-solving and decision-making. Hands-on activities , based on the three New York State Standards of Personal Health, Safe Environment, and Resource Management, include career exploration, home safety, nutrition, and textile care/construction. Instruction for grade 6 includes personal development, basic food preparation and nutrition awareness.
Students will also learn how to operate a sewing machine while creating a pillowcase.  The focus of 7th grade students is career exploration and development of employability skills. They will also create a fleece pillow while practicing hand sewing. In addition, food preparation and healthy food choices will be reinforced.
